Once upon a time,
The wind kissed leaves of scarlet
And a small love bloomed.

Once Upon A Time

A mini-bang dedicated to the Genshin Impact ship of Tomo x Kazuha.

    UNTIL POSTING BEGINS

    About

    What is a mini-bang?
A mini-bang is a fandom event that promotes collaboration between artists, writers, and readers. During a Mini-Bang, writers will write fanfiction (adhering to a minimum word count of 1000), and artists will create an illustration to accompany it (with the dimensions being a minimum of 3.5 x 5 inches/ 9cm x 13cm/ 336 x 480 pixels). When the event deadline arrives, all of the fanfiction and art will be released together creating an explosion - or ‘Mini Bang’ - of new fandom content!

How does a mini-bang work? What do people do in it?
During sign-ups, writers will be prompted to submit a summary of the idea they wish to write about, any background ships and the accompanying tags (e.g. angst, major character death, mutual pining, alternative universes, etc.); all of which will be recorded in a prompt list, where the writer remains anonymous.Artists will be asked to pick three (3) prompts of their choosing from the anonymous prompt list, in order of preference, as they will be illustrating an accompanying artwork(s) for that fanfiction. This is done on a first-come, first-serve basis, so whichever artist chooses an idea first, will be given priority.Beta readers will assist writers in looking over their work (where applicable) and may offer corrections in grammar, punctuation and advice for characterisation, plot progression and so on. For writers, betas are not required, although recommended.Book club members/cheerleaders will make a pledge to provide their support during and after posting dates by reading, liking, retweeting and commenting on ALL of the fanfiction (on the Twitter post and on Ao3), and the accompanying art posts that they have pledged to. The purpose of this is to ensure that not a single piece of fanfiction and illustration has been missed and will be viewed. This is not controlled or monitored, and will be entirely dependent on the cheerleader to ensure that they have supported all works.Pinch-hitters are those that act as a substitute for when a person drops out. They can be an existing participant or an external writer or artist.
Are there any rules for sign-up applications?
For writers, we would like to bring new ideas and stories to the fandom, so we do not encourage working from a pre-existing idea that has already been shared or published before. In the sign-up forms, you may leave the prompt section with TBA if you are struggling to come up with ideas as the form can be edited and updated whenever you want.
As this is a SFW mini-bang, artists and writers are not permitted to create content that has mature/ sexual implications, or explicit erotica.

What is a "progress check-in" and what are the requirements for each?
A check-in is when a moderator contacts all participants to check on their progress for the existing WIP. Progress will not be enforced by moderators, until the posting date is close.
For Check-In #1, writers will be asked to submit an outline of their story from start to finish, with a rough estimation of their final word count. Artists will be requested for a simple sketch of what they wish to illustrate for the accompanying fic.For Check-In #2, writers should be 30 - 50% complete with their fanfic (with mods determining what stage they're at in the story from the outline submitted in check-in #1). Artists will ideally have their line-art complete. For Check-In #3, writers should have their fanfic 50 - 70% complete, whereas from artists, we would like to see flat colour and slight rendering (where applicable). There will be an additional check-in 1-3 days before the group's posting date.

Does the fic have to be completed before the deadline, or can it still be ongoing?
It should be completed by the deadline (your posting date), however if you decide to make it a multi-chaptered fic instead of a oneshot, you will only need the first chapter done! Also, please note that the artist is only required to illustrate a minimum of one piece for the entire work, and it is up to their discretion if they wish to draw further. Furthermore, after the posting period is over, the services of the betas will no longer be available for any future chapters that may be released, unless the beta wishes to do so.

    Is the promotional period compulsory?
It is not compulsory to participate in the promotional period, although it is strongly recommended so we can share your work to other fans and "hype up" those that are looking forward to the completed publications. From writers, we will be looking at a preview of 50 - 100 words, whereas artists will be asked for a square of 100 x 100 pixels (if adhering to the minimum canvas), otherwise it should be no more than 20% (one-fifth) of your final illustration. Promotional content will be posted by the mini-bang Twitter account, and contributors are free to QRT it with their own impressions.

What will happen if I am unable to finish my piece?
The moderators understand that things in life can happen unexpectedly, and that's totally fine! During each progress check-in, mods will be extending the opportunity to drop out if you believe there is a potential you may be unable to complete your piece on time. Furthermore, even when it's not during check-ins, you are free to direct any messages or concerns you may have to Mod Kai. There is a strict deadline to drop out and we ask that all participants adhere to it, as it is often difficult to locate a pinch-hitter who can create a piece within a limited timeframe.

Is it possible for me to join the mini-bang with someone I already know?
Of course! You’re free to join the project with a partnered writer/artist you may already have in mind. Although, we do strongly encourage collaborating with someone new (for the sake of a different experience and hopefully a new friendship).

If you have any other questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to send us an anonymous message via our Q&A box.
